It is advisable to separate frail and wrinkled potatoes from the good ones so that the bad does not infect the rest. When your potatoes become too soft, they are not suited for consumption anymore.
• Potatoes smelling bitter
Potatoes, when still fresh, have a decent earthly scent. Sometimes potatoes may be rotten from the inside giving out an unfavorable smell. Rotten potatoes are harmful for consumption.
• Green patches
These green dots appear before sprouts develop. These patches may hold some toxic elements and a potato at this state is not suitable for consumption. The green patches are formed due to the increase of solanine. More minor spots can easily be cut off, but potatoes with larger patches should be disposed of.
• Musty and moldy potatoes

o Always keep the potatoes in a wide container and ensure there’s a sufficient air supply. Never use a plastic container because it will suffocate them and will reduce the potato’s life span.
o Please do not keep your potatoes in a fridge because they may darken so fast.
